Let’s kick the New Year off right!

Happy New Year everyone! Today I’m giving you 6 things you can do to prepare yourself for what 2019 has in store and to be ready to hit the ground running!

1. Time for a new headshot?

Take a good look at that headshot. Does it represent you? Maybe it’s a bit outdated? Maybe you stuck with the old black & white version? Time for a change! Headshot photographers sometimes offer discounts around this time of year, so get on Twitter and get looking!

2. Update your CV

Same goes: time to update! Add the credits, skills or any relevant training you picked up in the last year to your CV and keep a couple of printed copies to hand just in case.

3. Manage your repertoire

How well can you really sing the songs in there? Remember, if they’re in your repertoire, you should be ready to perform them at a moment’s notice. That being said, it’s easy to get sick of songs you’ve been singing over and over, so challenge yourself to replace some of them with something new and exciting.

4. Renew your goals

I always renew my acting/career goals at this time of year. Planning in early January helps me set everything up for the rest of the year; so remember to set those goals, pursue them and reward yourself when you achieve something big.

5. Do one thing a day that keeps you focused

From meditation to taking part in a scratch night, this can be anything that gets your creative mind active and that gets you in ‘ready-to-work mode’.

6. Breathe and stay positive

This is often the hardest point in the year for a lot of people, so don’t forget to take a step back and look at the whole picture. What did you accomplish in 2018? Make a list and celebrate your achievements. Even if the last time you accomplished something big was this time last year, remember to breathe. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Every step you take in this industry is helping pave the way for your future.

Here’s hoping 2019 brings you joy and success!
